A 52-year-old Texas man surrendered to authorities after barricading himself in his home for several hours following an alleged threat against his roommate, according to Law&Crime.
Bobby Rocha was taken into custody on Sunday in San Antonio after a standoff with police that lasted nearly seven hours. Law&Crime reports that Rocha’s roommate accidentally let Rocha’s dog and cat escape from the house.
In response, Rocha allegedly threatened the roommate with a firearm, saying he would “chop him into pieces, and feed him to the cat.”
The incident reportedly began on Saturday afternoon. The roommate, who has known Rocha since childhood, attempted to retrieve the pets after letting them out but returned empty-handed. At that point, Rocha allegedly became enraged, brandished a gun, and made the chilling threat, Law&Crime states.
Fearing for his safety, the roommate gathered his belongings and called 911 before leaving the residence. When officers arrived, they were unable to reach Rocha, who reportedly told them he was “willing to die inside the house,” according to Law&Crime.
The standoff continued until Sunday, when Rocha emerged with his hands raised and was taken into custody without further incident.
Rocha has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and obstruction or retaliation.
Law&Crime notes that he is currently held at the Bexar County Jail on a $40,000 bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for February 26, 2026.
