US President Donald Trump has described his health as “perfect,” despite concerns about his age and recent public scrutiny. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump, 79—the oldest president inaugurated in US history—addressed questions about his fitness and daily routines.
Trump said he has been taking larger-than-recommended doses of aspirin for 25 years, 325mg daily instead of the typical 81mg, explaining that he prefers the higher dose to keep his blood from thickening. He admitted that this routine makes him bruise easily.
The president clarified that he underwent a CT scan at Walter Reed National Medical Center in October to check for cardiovascular issues, not an MRI as previously reported. Doctors confirmed no abnormalities were detected.
Trump also discussed other health measures:
He was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency and declined to wear compression socks, instead adjusting his routine to improve leg swelling.
He does not engage in regular exercise, describing it as “boring,” but continues to golf and occasionally walk around.
He uses makeup to cover bruises on his hands, which he can apply in about 10 seconds.
Responding to claims that he had nodded off during meetings or struggled with hearing, Trump said he sometimes closes his eyes to relax and that photos capturing these moments are misleading.
His doctor, Navy Capt. Sean Barbaella, stated that Trump is in “exceptional health and perfectly suited to execute his duties as Commander in Chief.”
Trump expressed frustration over repeated public discussions about his health, saying:
"Let's talk about health again for the 25th time."
Despite the controversy, Trump insisted that he remains fully capable of carrying out presidential duties, emphasizing his long-standing routines and unique approach to staying healthy.
