DP Kithure Kindiki Hails Fuel Price Drop as Relief for Kenyan Households

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has welcomed the recent reduction in fuel prices, describing it as a significant relief for households and a positive step for Kenya’s economic stability.

The adjustment follows a review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), which set new maximum retail fuel prices effective from February 15 to March 14, 2026.

Under the latest changes:

Super Petrol drops by Ksh4.24 per litre, now

Ksh178 (down from Ksh218).

Diesel falls by Ksh3.93 per litre.

Kerosene decreases by Ksh1.00 per litre.

In a statement dated February 14, 2026, EPRA Director General Daniel Kiptoo Bargoria cited Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No. 192 of 2022 as the legal basis for the review.

The gradual reduction in fuel prices is expected to lower transport and production costs, easing the high cost of living for businesses and ordinary Kenyans.

Deputy President Kindiki described the adjustment as a welcome development that will inject relief into households struggling with rising expenses.
