Kenyan Embassy in Qatar Confirms Flights to Kenya Remain Suspended

The Kenyan embassy in Qatar has confirmed that flights to Kenya are still suspended due to the closure of Qatar’s airspace, following recent tensions in the Middle East.

In a statement released on Saturday, March 7, 2026, the embassy said:

“Flights operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of airspace in line with the directives of Qatar Aviation Authority.”

The embassy assured Kenyan citizens in Qatar that all nationals are safe and urged them to adhere to emergency alerts and safety precautions.

Residents are advised to:

Move to a safe location indoors when an alert is issued.
Stay away from windows and glass surfaces.
Register their details on the online platform to maintain contact with embassy officials.

Despite the airspace closure, the embassy emphasized that no Kenyan nationals have been reported injured or killed, and most continue with work or studies depending on the prevailing security situation.

Future Flights

There is potential for limited flights after Qatar Airways signalled plans to reopen Hamad International Airport with flights from major cities such as London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Frankfurt, Bangkok, and potentially African destinations including Kenya.

Kenyans in Qatar who wish to return home are advised to plan travel through commercial airlines or licensed travel agents once the airspace is reopened, ensuring conditions remain safe.

The embassy continues to provide guidance and support to the diaspora as the situation evolves.
