Video: Shock as MP Oscar Sudi Reveals Edwin Sifuna Could Be Arrested Before 2027 Elections

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has sparked reactions after allegedly claiming that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna could be arrested ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a video circulating on social media, Sudi is heard discussing Sifuna and the possibility of him being taken into police custody over alleged incitement and hate speech.

According to the remarks attributed to the Kapseret MP, Sifuna could be arrested as the country approaches the 2027 elections if he continues holding political rallies and making statements that authorities could consider inflammatory.

Sudi allegedly argued that allowing the Nairobi Senator to continue with such political activities could create problems in the country in the future.

He reportedly suggested that Sifuna should be arrested and taken to court if his remarks cross the legal threshold for incitement or hate speech.

The claims come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Sifuna among the opposition-aligned leaders who have been holding public rallies and making strong statements on national political issues.

Sifuna and Sudi have also previously exchanged sharp political remarks. In February 2025, the two leaders engaged in a public war of words after Sifuna criticised President William Ruto's political allies, prompting Sudi to respond publicly.

Sudi himself has previously faced arrest over allegations relating to hate speech and incitement. In September 2020, he presented himself to police after authorities sought him over remarks that had triggered an investigation.

However, the latest claim concerning Sifuna's possible arrest is based on the alleged video circulating online, and it should not be taken as confirmation that police or any other government agency has decided to arrest him.

The remarks have nevertheless attracted attention online, with Kenyans closely following the increasingly heated political exchanges as the country moves toward the 2027 elections.
