Deputy party leader of DCP, Cleophas Malala, has condemned President William Ruto for linking former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to a murder case.
Reports indicate that President Ruto suggested Gachagua was involved in the death of a pregnant blogger, Maureen Kinyua, whose passing occurred under unclear circumstances.
The remarks sparked reactions from various leaders, many of whom urged restraint when discussing sensitive issues.
Malala questioned why Ruto selected Gachagua as his running mate if he suspected him of such serious wrongdoing and called for a full investigation into Kinyua’s death, describing the President’s comments as insensitive.
Separately, DCP stated that Kinyua died in a hit-and-run accident and noted that the driver responsible was arrested and charged in court.
Gachagua, in turn, indirectly dismissed the allegations, accusing the President of relying on unverified blogger reports rather than conducting proper verification.
The incident underscores mounting political tensions and highlights the demand for clarity and accountability in public discourse.
