Otiende Amollo, Rarieda Member of Parliament and Senior Counsel, shared updates from a busy day in western Kenya, balancing high-profile infrastructure engagement with community solidarity.
Amollo attended the launch of the Naivasha–Kisumu–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension at the Kibos site in Kisumu, an event presided over by Presidents William Ruto and Yoweri Museveni.
The approximately 264-kilometer railway, stretching from Naivasha through Narok, Bomet, Kericho, Nyamira, and Kisumu to Malaba at the Uganda border, is intended to enhance regional connectivity, shift cargo from road to rail, and stimulate economic growth across East Africa.
Following the infrastructure event, Amollo traveled to West Uyoma in Siaya County to attend the funeral of 28-year-old Dan Blair Ogutata, son of West Uyoma MCA Justus Ogutata.
He described Blair as a promising young university student and offered heartfelt condolences to the family. The funeral was attended by community leaders, clergy, relatives, and friends, where Amollo led prayers for the young man’s eternal rest.
Through social media, Amollo shared images from both events, capturing the SGR launch podium and the solemn funeral setting, including the casket adorned with white flowers.
These dual engagements highlight Amollo’s commitment to national development and grassroots support, balancing participation in strategic infrastructure projects with compassion for constituents facing personal loss.
His presence at the SGR launch alongside national leaders underscores the project’s cross-border significance, while his attendance at the funeral reflects solidarity and empathy within his community.
