Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has publicly accused Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba of political betrayal and divided loyalties.
Speaking during a public engagement in Githunguri on Saturday, March 21, Gachagua claimed that Wamuchomba, once a trusted member of his inner circle, secretly relayed private discussions to President William Ruto. Upon discovering the alleged actions, he said he decided to cut ties with her.
Gachagua further alleged that after leaving his camp, Wamuchomba attempted to align politically with opposition leaders including Jubilee Deputy Party leader Fred Matiang’i and Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, but did not establish a lasting foothold.
He also linked her to efforts to associate with Eugene Wamalwa, which reportedly did not materialize.
According to Gachagua, the MP eventually returned to President Ruto’s political camp. He urged his supporters in Githunguri to reject leaders aligned with the President if they intend to oppose his leadership.
Gachagua and Wamuchomba parted ways late last year, and since then the two have frequently exchanged political criticisms in public forums.
Wamuchomba rejoined the UDA earlier this year and has pledged to defend her seat on the ruling party’s ticket.
