President Ruto Launches Key Development Projects in Busia County

President William Ruto has unveiled multiple development projects in Busia County aimed at boosting local economic activity and improving residents’ livelihoods.

Accompanied by Alice Wahome, Ruto presided over the laying of foundation stones for initiatives including the Budalangi Market, the Malaha County Strategic Market, and the Nasewa Industrial Park Affordable Housing project, which is expected to deliver 2,000 housing units.

These projects form part of the government’s wider plan to support small-scale traders and expand access to affordable housing.

Speaking during the event, the President highlighted the importance of investing in grassroots development.

He noted that modern markets will offer traders improved working conditions, while the housing project will create jobs and provide affordable homes for residents.

The launches have prompted diverse reactions on social media. Some users welcomed the projects as steps toward economic growth and employment opportunities, while others questioned the pace of implementation and urged the government to ensure transparency and accountability during construction.

These initiatives align with ongoing national efforts to roll out the affordable housing agenda across Kenya.

As a key border county, Busia is expected to benefit from enhanced infrastructure and increased business activity once the projects are completed. Local leaders have expressed optimism about the potential economic impact.

The public discussion now centers on timely execution and whether the projects will meet local expectations.
