BREAKING: What Is Orengo Planning? Siaya Governor Set to Unveil New Political Party Ahead of 2027

Siaya Governor James Orengo is reportedly preparing to unveil a new political party that could serve as the vehicle for his presidential ambitions in the 2027 General Election.

Orengo’s spokesperson, Joshua Ayika, confirmed the development on Wednesday, September 30, saying the governor would officially introduce the new political outfit soon.

In a statement shared on X, Ayika described the party as the platform through which Orengo intends to pursue his presidential bid.

“Governor James Orengo will be unveiling his political party; this is the vehicle that shall be used in his presidential bid. Mbele Kuzuri,” Ayika stated.

The party has reportedly been identified by the initials LDP. Its proposed logo features a blue and white hat decorated with a green feather and a fly whisk, surrounded by a blue circular design.

The symbols have strong political associations with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who was widely known for carrying a fly whisk during political rallies and public appearances.

Orengo also appeared to reference Raila in a post on his Facebook page, writing, “Raila’s anniversary is approaching! Pata luku...RAO@1.”

The announcement comes amid growing political differences within the Linda Mwananchi movement, which recently endorsed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as its leader and presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

Orengo was notably absent from the movement’s principals’ retreat, where Sifuna received the endorsement.

The Siaya governor had previously expressed his presidential ambitions and reportedly advocated for Linda Mwananchi to be transformed into a political party rather than creating a separate political outfit.

The latest development could signal a separate political path for Orengo as opposition leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Meanwhile, Sifuna’s camp has also announced plans to unveil a political party in early October, potentially setting the stage for further political developments within the opposition.
