Questions are emerging on social media following claims that two female Cabinet Secretaries allegedly held a private meeting with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Karen residence on Sunday evening.
According to claims circulating on social media, the two senior government officials allegedly arrived at Gachagua's Karen residence for a meeting whose details have not been publicly confirmed.
Some of the reports further claim that the two women had covered their faces with black scarves in what was described as an attempt to avoid being recognised while entering or leaving the residence.
The claims have since generated discussion online, with Kenyans questioning what could have prompted such a private meeting and why the identities of the alleged visitors were reportedly concealed.
Alleged political discussions
Some social-media sources are also alleging that the discussions centred on the country's changing political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to those unverified claims, the two Cabinet Secretaries were allegedly considering distancing themselves from President William Ruto's administration and potentially joining Gachagua's Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
However, there is currently no independent confirmation that such a meeting took place, that the two women were Cabinet Secretaries, or that they discussed leaving the government and joining DCP.
The claims should therefore be treated as allegations circulating online rather than established facts.
Why the claims are attracting attention
Gachagua, who was removed from the deputy presidency in October 2024 after his fallout with Ruto, has since emerged as a leading opposition figure and heads the DCP. Recent reporting has also continued to place him at the centre of political discussions surrounding the 2027 elections.
The reported meeting, if eventually confirmed, would therefore attract considerable political attention because of the senior positions allegedly held by the two women.
For now, however, the identities of the alleged visitors and the purpose of the reported meeting remain unclear.
Neither the alleged attendees nor Gachagua has been publicly established as having confirmed the claims described above.
As Kenyans continue debating the reports online, questions remain: Who were the two women allegedly seen at Gachagua's Karen residence, and what exactly was discussed during the reported private meeting?
Until credible evidence or an official statement emerges, the claims remain unverified social-media reports.
