Homa Bay Senator Urges ODM Politicians to Respect Former President Uhuru Kenyatta

Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang has called on ODM politicians to show respect to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, highlighting that the late Raila Odinga held him in high regard throughout his life.

Speaking recently, Kajwang described the 2022 presidential elections as “water under the bridge” and urged politicians to focus on the upcoming general elections instead of revisiting past disagreements.

His remarks come amid claims that Uhuru has been accused of trying to influence ODM politics. Suna East MP Junet Mohamed alleged that the former president has been encouraging some ODM politicians to join the United Opposition, promising them positions in government, despite not helping Raila Odinga secure the presidency in 2022.

Kajwang stressed the importance of unity and respect, noting that personal attacks and political division distract from the bigger goal of serving the nation and preparing for future elections.

Meanwhile, tensions within ODM have also surfaced publicly, with some politicians calling on ODM leader Dr. Oburu Oginga to take disciplinary action against ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

The calls came after a public spat between Sifuna and Junet Mohamed over the 2022 elections. The push for discipline was led by Suba North MP Millie Mabona and MP Otiende Amollo.

Kajwang’s message seeks to calm political disputes and encourages leaders to prioritize constructive dialogue and collaboration ahead of the next electoral cycle. By focusing on unity and mutual respect, he hopes ODM politicians can move forward without revisiting past conflicts.
